Gondomar is a suburb on the east side of the Porto metropolitan area. Gondomar is a city unto itself with well defined business, financial, and governmental core. Gondomar is very large geographically and the large population with spread throughout the city. Conseqently, while it has a large population it is not densely populated. The local branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints has a strong core of solid member families.

The Gondomar chapel occupies two office suites on the first floor of an apartment builder located on a busy street in Gondomar. The chapel has an interesting floor plan. Because of a problem with the local zoning authority the two suites could not be joined. So, the member must go outside to move from one set of rooms to another.
